We live in a complicated world, a place where the pace of life and complexity of life seems to be increasing everyday. Sometimes the complications of life can seem overwhelming, so the idea of simplifying life is a popular one. I typed in the word “simplify” in the book section of Amazon.com and the top three bestselling titles were: Focal Point: A Proven System to Simplify Your Life, Double Your Productivity and Achieve All Your Goals, Simplify Your Life: 100 Ways to Slow Down and Enjoy the Things That Really Matter and Feel Good: Little Changes to Simplify Your Complicated Life.
People want to simplify, they want to focus their lives, to slow down and to enjoy the things that really matter. However, as a believer, it’s important to start not just with any book but with The Book, the Bible. As a believer, you know the author if the Bible and the author knows you. Jesus knows you best, he understands you and your life because he created you. He knows what will work in your life and best of all, He will help you implement His principles. You certainly can’t say that about any human author.
The Bible says in Msg Proverbs 15:16 A simple life in the Fear-of-God is better than a rich life with a ton of headaches. I want to learn from Jesus about that simple life in the fear of God and get rid of some of the headaches in my life.
