Discovering HBCU Pathways

As a child growing up in Spring, a small town in Texas, SirJames Offord attended church occasionally, but his relationship with God was never a close one. That dramatically changed when he went to college and attended campus ministries’ meetings. The friendships he developed there made him realize that he really wanted to serve and love God beyond church environment. He enrolled in a leadership training that made him a leader of a small group of young men. Most of them went on to become leaders themselves.

Key Takeaways:

  • Offord went through Chi Alpha’s leadership training the next semester and became a small group leader.
  • In keeping with Chi Alpha’s vision, these young leaders make disciples who in turn make other disciples who serve the Lord wherever life leads them.
  • Offord became friends with Moriah Loris Burrell through Chi Alpha and they shared a passion to reach others with the gospel.

“Through Chi Alpha events and Ubador’s friendship, Offord began to learn what it meant to live out a real relationship with Christ in everyday life.”
