Forever Forgiving

Forgiveness is a personal journey. It is difficult, very personal, and the path is never the same for any two people. Sioni experienced sexual abuse at the hand of her family members. It was being repeated throughout her childhood and made her adult life difficult to understand and under influence of these past experiences. It also led to her daughter going through similar experiences, the result of mistakes that were repeated over and over again. Only after her daughter was arrested at the age of 18, and spent a few months in jail, she reached out to churches and sought help.

Key Takeaways:

  • Scheila, Sioni’s daughter, spent her childhood living a life of trauma. Her mother prostituted herself in order to provide the barest of meals and a place to live.
  • The atrocities committed against Sioni as a child and as an adult led to Scheila experiencing emotional trauma and sexual abuse.
  • Despite Sioni’s lack of skills when it came to mothering, she clung desperately to God for His help and stayed faithful in her love for her daughter, despite the hurt.

“It’s not hard to trace the source of Scheila’s rebellion. Sioni says by age 12 Scheila was openly defiant, and even as a young child, she lied profusely. However, she was unaware of the molestation of her daughter, that Scheila says was taking place for as long as she could remember, until she was 11.”
