Helping Others In Their Quest

Today, we’re going to be concluding our GodQuest message series. In this series, we’ve looked at what the Bible has to say about 6 important questions that many in our society are asking. We’ve looked at the following questions:

  • What is Truth?
  • How Did Everything Begin?
  • Is The Bible True?
  • Why Is There Suffering?
  • Who Is Jesus?
  • Are There Many Paths To God?

If you missed any of the messages, they are available in audio and video form along with the message notes on our website at www.lifechurchstlouis.org. God’s purpose in this message series was two-fold. First of all, God wants each believer in this church family to have a solid foundation for your faith. Each of us needs to fully understand the Bible’s answers to these difficult questions so that our faith is strong. When people don’t have any answers to the questions that they hear about them in society, their own faith can falter. Secondly, God wants each of us to be able to help others with their questions.

My message title today is “Helping Others In Their Quest.” Of course, in order to help someone else with their questions, you’ve got to understand God’s answers for yourself. God’s desire is for every believer to be able to answer these kinds of questions, because these questions are one of the major reasons that people give for not believing in Jesus.

1 Peter 3:15 (NIV) Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

In this verse, God’s Words commands us to prepare ourselves to answer the questions of people who ask about our faith. Our answers must not be with arrogance or pride, but with gentleness and respect. Jesus commands every believer in the Great Commission to make disciples.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV) Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Of course, making disciples involves telling people about Jesus and answering their questions with God’s answers from the Bible. Today, I want us to look at a parable that Jesus taught to better understand what is going on as we share God’s truth with others. It’s often referred to as the parable of the Sower and I’d like to read it from Luke 8.
