About 150 years ago, many people, including scientists, believed in what was known as “spontaneous generation” of life. They would look at how mold or other organisms seemed to spontaneously generate in decaying material and they thought that by some mechanism life was being formed.
However, Louie Pasteur didn’t believe this was true. So in 1864, he conducted experiments to show that when all microorganisms were killed by sterilization (pasteurization), no life spontaneously generated. Pasteur said, “There is not a single known circumstance in which microscopic beings may be asserted to have entered the world without germs, without parents resembling them. Those who think otherwise have been deluded by their poorly conducted experiments, full of errors they neither knew how to perceive, nor how to avoid.”
Yet our public schools today teach our children that life arose by “spontaneous generation” from primordial ooze. Pasteur would be laughing at us. We should know better by now. Life begets life, always.
Genesis 1:26-27 Then God said, “Let us make people in our image, to be like ourselves …” So God created people in his own image; God patterned them after himself; male and female he created them.
Hi Dan,
I’m finding your site very interesting, including the article on Pasteur. I’m trying to find ways to get my church going with some new technology. A blog looks like a good idea to me!
Keep up the good work!
Don
It’s Louis Pasteur, not “Louie”.
I’m from St Louis and like to call him “Louie.” 🙂
can you give me more info i am doing a sci project about him thx

Here is the link to Louis Pasteur’s address delivered at the “Sorbonne Scientific Soiree” on April 7, 1864 which I quoted from, On Spontaneous Generation.
“Yet our public schools today teach our children that life arose by “spontaneous generation” from primordial ooze.”
I have never heard of any theories of spontaneous generation and primordial ooze. Is this new science? Where can I get more information on this? I would not want to bash or support a schools science curriculum without knowing a little more about this.
Where are they teaching the theory of Ooze? I bet it’s Richmond Heights. Richmond heights kids are kinda dumb.
The scientific term for spontaneous generation from the primordial soup/ooze is abiogenesis. See this article for more information: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abiogenesis.
