God has created you to Change Your World, one person at a time. Sometimes we’re tempted to through up our hands at the condition of our world and say it’s hopeless, there’s nothing that we can do. When we consider something is hopeless, then we don’t pursue doing anything. Yet, with God, you and I as believers can make a huge impact on our world.
Luke 18:27 (NIV2011) Jesus replied, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.”
Maybe you and I making a big difference in our world is impossible for us in our own strength. But we’re not alone. With God all things are possible, even changing your world.
Today, my message is entitled “Sharing the Good News.” In the New Testament, the Greek word for Gospel is εὐαγγέλιον, which means Good News. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is good news, it’s incredibly good news, in fact, it’s the best news that anybody has every shared on this planet.
Romans 1:16 (NIV2011) For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Don’t be ashamed of the gospel, the good news. Don’t cover up your Gospel light, but let it shine to all those around. The Gospel is the power of God to bring salvation to everyone who believes in Jesus.
This morning, we’re going to look at an example of sharing the good news from the book of Acts. The book of Acts contains the history of the early church. However, Acts is not just a history lesson, Acts shows us God’s plan for the church of all ages. What happened in Acts is not just historical, it is sets the pattern for how we as believers and the church of God should function until Jesus returns.
Acts 1:8 (NIV2011) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
In Acts, the believers were empowered by the Holy Spirit to be witnesses for Jesus. Today, we’re going to look at an example of a Jew sharing the Good News with a Gentile for the first time. We’re going to learn how we to can and must share the good news with those around us.
